What burial means
Burial places the body in the ground. It can be accompanied by a ceremony, a gathering at the graveside, or a memorial at another time. Direct burial is a simpler arrangement without a viewing beforehand; a family can still hold a separate remembrance.

Think about the place as well as the day
Would your family value somewhere they can visit? Is there an existing family plot? Think about distance, access, opening hours, and how people will travel to a graveside gathering. Ask the cemetery what can be placed or planted at the grave.

Ask for the whole picture
Request a written breakdown for funeral care, the burial space, opening and closing the grave, a container, a marker, and any ongoing care charges. Ask which items are cemetery requirements and which are optional. This helps you compare arrangements that include the same things.
